Arms and Armor from Iran: The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period encompasses ten different museums and private collections. The book examines the origins and development of Iranian arms heritage from the 3rd millennium BC to the Qajar Period in the 20th century. The table of contents alone spans four full-size pages, with headings such as “Median and Achaemenian Daggers and Swords,” “Parthian Swords and Daggers.” The first part provides the narrative history of Iranian weapons. The second part of the book is devoted to color images of daggers, swords, spears, axes, shields, armor, and mail. All in sumptuous detail on a dark blue background, enhancing the gleaming golden surfaces of many of these extraordinary pieces.
