The Congress Committee is pleased to announce that Dr. Daryoush Jahanian and Dr. Jenny Rose will speak at the Congress this December.
Dr. Daryoush Jahanian is a co-founder of the Fravahar Zoroastrian Youth Organization in Iran and the Zoroastrian Association of Kansas (ZAKA). He served as the first President of both organizations. Dr. Jahanian is also a Trustee and President of the Rustam Guiv Foundation. A frequent speaker on Zoroastrianism, Dr. Jahanian has published a book entitled The Zoroastrian Doctrine and Biblical Connections and several articles on Zoroastrianism.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Dr. Jahanian currently resides in Kansas City, with his wife and two sons. When he is not studying, speaking or writing about Zoroastrianism, he practices medicine, with a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Jahanian will speak on the History of Zoroastrians through Political Analysis and Historical Letters at the Congress.
Dr. Jenny Rose teaches Zoroastrian Studies in the Department of Religion at Claremont Graduate University. She holds a doctorate in Ancient Iranian Studies from Columbia University, New York. Her dissertation was published in book form as The Image of Zoroaster: The Persian Mage Through European Eyes (Bibliotheca Persica Press, 2000). In 2011, Dr. Rose published Zoroastrianism: An Introduction (I.B. Tauris), and Zoroastrianism: A Guide for the Perplexed, (Continuum), both of which have been favorably reviewed in the US and abroad.
Dr. Rose lectures extensively at other academic institutions, museums, international conferences and Zoroastrian Association events throughout North America and Europe. She also leads study-tours of some of the most important archaeological, cultural and devotional sites in Iran Central Asia and western China.
Dr. Rose will bring her work to bear on a presentation at the Congress that considers the Zoroastrian connection to other cultures.
