Visit Washington D.C. and Participate in the 17th Zoroastrian Games in July 2020

17TH ZOROASTRIAN GAMES —  JULY 1-5, 2020 — COPPIN STATE UNIVERSITY, BALTIMORE, MD — REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

The Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitan Washington DC, Inc (ZAMWI) in conjunction with the Zoroastrian Sports Committee (ZSC), a standing committee of FEZANA, will formally open the 17th Zoroastrian Games scheduled for 8:00a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at Coppin State University campus in Baltimore. The opening ceremony will spotlight the march of athletes with their represented state/ country flags, stage performers, national anthem, and the lighting of the torch.

This biennial tradition brings Zoroastrians from 4 different continents (Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia) to deliver sportsmanship, grit, and teamwork by participating in different sports activities.  The Zoroastrian Games started in 1988 with twenty attendees and 30 years later, more than 300 participants registered at the previous game in Los Angeles 2018.  ZAMWI is excited to host the 17th Z Games, a tradition that highlights our youth not only as competitors, but as organizers and volunteers inspired to build camaraderie across the diaspora that will carry our community into the future. We hope to welcome more than 300 participants, and we are excited to be partnering with ZAPANJ for a strong volunteer team.

The vibrant community of Zoroastrians in Washington D.C, Maryland, and Virginia are excited to host for the first time in the history of the games visioning this year’s slogan:

Small Community, Big Dreams!
Together, Stronger!

The 2020 Zoroastrian Games offer something unique for all attendees. The competitive tournaments held during the day are basketball, volleyball, swimming, track, tennis and table tennis. The evenings feature a Hawaiian night in the Kamran Dar-e-Mehr, a moonlight tour of DC featuring the rich culture of American history, and the Red Carpet Gala Night at the Hyatt in Bethesda, Maryland. Door to door transportation will be provided from campus.

Traditionally, the games have had four registration options including “Full Package” and “Sport Only” for both categories of Youth and Adults. This year for the first time, we added two more registration packages with a very affordable registration fee to attract potential participants who are under 15 and over 50 years old.

Also, to encourage the family of the athletes to visit the nation’s capital and cheer for their teams, we are offering a very generous “Meal and Housing” package. This package includes housing in the campus dorms, as well as breakfast and lunch during the games.

The Closing Ceremony will be on Sunday, July 5, to recognize athletes, medal winners, sponsors and volunteers. Register early, and we hope to see you there!

Early Bird Registration is now open and available at: https://www.zgames2020.com/register.html
