ZSO Children’s Religion Classes Celebrate the Creations of Water and Fire

Children and Teachers of the Religion Classes celebrating the Ava-Ardavisur Parabh and the Atash-nu-Parabh at the Meherban Guiv Darbe Mehr in Toronto, Canada.

March 22nd was World Water Day and March 24th was the Ava-Ardavisur Parabh, according to the Fasli Calendar.   The Zoroastrian Society of Ontario’s Children’s Religion Classes celebrated the creation of water and also the creation of fire (Atash-nu-Parabh) on Sunday, March 24th at the local Darbe Mehr.  The children and teachers were taken to the back of the Darbe Mehr and down to a creek.  There was an explanation of why water and fire are important creations in our lives and how to conserve water.  After the presentation, a divo was lit and some offerings made to the water.  There were prayers recited by all present.

After the prayers, the group came back to the Darbe Mehr hall to sell homemade dishes for charity.  All the children had helped their parents cook a Zoroastrian food item.  They sold their food items and collected money for charities in Canada and India.
