Meheryar Rivetna’s book explores the life and wisdom of Zarathushtra through the scholarly explanation of the Gathas. It aims to dispel the myths and beliefs that contradict the Prophet’s teachings and seeks to peel away the layers of distortion that over the centuries have threatened to reduce a great religion into a magical fairy tale. The author also provides a historical context of the cause of deviation from Zarathustra’s original message. The reader will find it enlightening to discover the meaning behind many abstract concepts in religion.
Meheryar Rivetna resides in Houston, Texas, with his wife, Zubeen Mehta. A biochemist by training, Meheryar held positions in Merck & Co, Inc. in research and later in sales and marketing. Retirement took him in a different direction. To keep his mind engaged, he began to study the Zoroastrian religion to go beyond the practice of rituals and conventionally held beliefs and to explore the original teachings of Zarathustra.
Meheryar is a member of the Zoroastrian Association of Houston (ZAH) and a member of the ZAH library committee, home of FIRES. He has generously donated all profits to the ZAH Library.
