This amazing story written by Rukshana Master is a biography of her great-great grandmother’s life. Born in 1832 and known as the “first Indian girl to receive the benefits of English education,” Dosebai Cowasjee Jessawalla met the Pope in Rome in 1878, and later met King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1908. Adventures make for a fascinating, informative, and entertaining tale.

Rukshana Master has based this memoir on Dosebai’s book The Story of My Life by Dosebai Cowasjee Jessawalla, printed in 1911, and has included excerpts from the book.

Spanning over 100 years of British rule in India, this story is a view of an indomitable woman in the British Raj.
