FEZANA Religion Education Committee

This section of the FEZANA Religion Education Committee website is designed to support religion education teachers globally. It has age-appropriate lesson plans on Religion, Prayers, Ceremonies, Celebrations, the Gathas and Gathic concepts, Zoroastrian History, the Shahnameh, and Comparative Religion. It also includes a Teacher’s Guide to complement the lesson plans and help with age-appropriate interaction and presentation of the material.

The FEZANA Age-Appropriate Lesson Plan is a truly collaborative endeavor from its vision to execution. It began with an intensive period of gathering insights from multiple religion educators across North America. In response to the feedback generated, this site was conceptualized to meet the individual and collective needs of the teachers working hard to engage and teach children and youth in meaningful ways.

A few notable features of this site include the following aspects.

  • The lesson plans on this website are prepared by religion class teachers and verified by accredited schoolteachers for age appropriateness and presentation. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers who are helping make this project possible.  Their names are mentioned at the bottom of each lesson plan they helped to produce.
  • To embrace the rich and multifaceted heritage of our 3700-year-old religion and to acknowledge the diverse needs of teachers for a practical and easily usable resource, some of the topics on this site provide both the Parsi and Iranian perspectives. This provides teachers the opportunity to learn from multiple perspectives, some of which may not be their own. This site was conceptualized with the hope that teachers can and will reconcile both perspectives so students can gain a holistic understanding of the Zoroastrian religion. This has the potential to bring all cultural perspectives together through an open transfer of knowledge and a joyful collaboration.

We hope the presented lesson plans will be useful to religion class teachers as a source material.
