We stand united with the world’s leading religious organizations in denouncing the practice of separating families, specifically children from their parents, in the throes of such duress and strife. Such policies are contrary to international refugee and human rights standards and practices.
We also believe recent divisive language used to describe people in search of asylum hearkens back to the darker passages of human history. Zoroastrians fled persecution throughout the centuries, finding refuge on the shores of Gujarat, India, over a millennium ago, and fleeing Iran in the late 1970s in the face of oppression.
Today, we pray for all affected families to be united, and granted the peace, justice and dignity they deserve.
