News from the FEZANA Interfaith Activities Committee
Oregon Zoroastrian Organization (OZO):
Last month, Oregon Zoroastrian Organization had a booth at the Eugene Pride in the Park Festival.
OZO had a booth from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday August 14, 2021. Our aim was to introduce the Zoroastrian religion to the public. More than 50 people came to our table and talked to us.
Those who had heard about Zoroastrianism thought we had been long extinct and were pleasantly surprised to see us there. Those who had not heard about us were very amazed at Zarathushtra’s Message of kindness, freedom, tolerance and inclusivity.
We distributed 30 to 40 pamphlets to people and six people signed up to learn more about Zoroastrianism. The highlight of the day was talking to a group of Iranian and Afghani people who were very excited to see us there. They bought a book from us, and we decided to keep in touch with them.
The reaction of the public was very positive, and many people were curious to learn more about this ancient faith. We have resolved to set up our website as soon as possible so we can spread Zarathushtra’s beautiful Message of love to everyone.
In addition, we had put a sign on our table telling people that we could write their names in Persian. That sign drew many people to our table. People were amused to see their names in Persian, and this gave us a good opportunity to talk to people about the Zoroastrian religion and Zarathushtra’s philosophy.
We had lots of fun and it was a successful day. We were embraced by many people who were pleasantly surprised by Zoroastrianism’s worldview.
