This is a completely new production of the Tamam Khordeh Avesta in English.

The book is authored by Ervad Dr. Ramiyar P. Karanjia, the Principal of the Dadar Athornan Institute in Mumbai, India.

The book is published in memory of Jal and Armin Amrolia by their children Professor Persis and Dr. Zarathushtra (Zar) Amrolia.

All proceeds from the sale of the book shall be donated by FEZANA to the Dadar Athornan Institute

Special features of this book

  • A general introduction to the Zoroastrian religion and Avesta language.
  • An introduction at the beginning of each prayer, containing relevant information like, benefits, reasons to pray, and the when, how and where of praying it. This is expected to enhance the prayer experience and make it more satisfying and fulfilling.
  • A brief understanding of prayers at the beginning of each prayer, to give an idea about it contents.
  • Use of capital letters for proper nouns, like names of Ahura Mazda, prophet Zarathushtra, Ameshaspands and Yazads, to enable the devotees to visualize the divine beings while praying.
  • Instructions within prayers in greater details, in red colour.
  • Difficult words broken down with a hyphen, for ease of pronunciation. Most often, the syllable coming after the hyphen needs to be stressed.
  • Among the long vowels, only long ‘a’ is marked as ‘ā’, and nasalised long ‘a’ is marked as ‘ã’. Other long vowels are not marked.
  • Standardizing the spellings, especially of Pazand words. For instance the word khorehmand, which is variously written as khurehmand, khurehemand and khorehemand, has been standardized.
  • Brief information about the Zoroastrian religion, Avesta, Zoroastrian Calendars and Zoroastrian Festivals has been given at the beginning.
