Very few people are aware of the FEZANA Scholarships Program for students, which was initiated in 1998 by Dolly Dastoor. Upon completing her term as FEZANA President, Dolly requested that in lieu of a farewell gift, funds be put into a scholarship fund. Thus started the FEZANA Scholarship Program with an initial donation of $2,000.
The FEZANA scholarship program is based on merit and need for Zoroastrian students in USA and Canada, in education, sports, performing and creative arts. The academic scholarship program has grown over time with number of applications increasing significantly over the years. In the 2018 competition cycle, we received 78 applications from worthy applicants but could only disburse 18 scholarships in the total amount of $35,000.
Presently, each FEZANA scholarship disbursement ranges from $2,000 to $5,000, while average college tuition costs in 2018, excluding housing and meals, were $35,676 at private colleges and $9,716 (in-state residents) and $21,629 for out-of-state students in public institutions.
Our goal: During 2019 FEZANA would like to award scholarships to 30 students.
Our need: To raise $90,000 during 2019 to provide average scholarships of $3,000 to 30 deserving students.
The gift of education is the best gift we can give our youth. Investing in them is an investment in the future of our community and in the hopes and dreams of our youth. You can support FEZANA’s Scholarship Program by donating generously to the restricted Scholarship fund, or you can set up an endowed named scholarship with a minimum donation of $50,000.
