Lesson 1:
Migration to India and the Sacred Fire
A small group of Zoroastrians decided to leave Iran and seek refuge elsewhere. About 18 ships traveled the trade routes to China, Russia, Africa, and India.
Lesson 2:
Parsis in India (1700-2023)
By the 19th century the Parsis became a wealthy community in India with success in heavy industries, especially those connected with railways and shipbuilding.
Lesson 3:
Persecution of Zoroastrians in Iran
In 1850, the population of Zoroastrians in Iran had declined to about 7000. The French Ambassador to Persia at the time stated, “Only a miracle may save them (Iranian Zoroastrians) from extinction”.
Lesson 4:
Zoroastrians in Iran (1800-2023)
Maneckji arrived on the shores of Iran in Spring of 1854 and with support form Parsis greatly improved Zoroastrians’ living conditions in Iran. As Iranian Zoroastrians became more educated and less persecuted some became successful and in turn gave back to the country and Zoroastrian community.
Lesson 5:
Zoroastrians Around the World
The goal of this lesson is to familiarize students with the extent of the Zoroastrian settlement around the world and their positive influence where they may have settled.
Lesson 6:
Understanding the Zoroastrian Community in North America
Today, there are many Zoroastrian centers and communities residing in North America. Many of Zoroastrian centers and smaller communities come together under the umbrella of the Federation of Zoroastrian Association of North America (FEZANA).
Lesson 7:
Introduction to FEZANA
FEZANA’s vision is of being a forum to unite and strengthen individual Associations with the decision-making power not with the executive officers of the FEZANA but within the member Associations (individual Associations have the only voting power).
Lesson 8:
Zoroastrian Youth of North America
ZYNA is the youth committee of FEZANA organizing events from camping, road trips, youth congresses to weekly get-togethers and more. Zoroastrian youths are encouraged to join ZYNA and it is a great community for the younger generation to look forward to.
